COLORADO SPRINGS

Nestled at the foot of historic Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer. Palmer’s vision was to create an upscale, quality resort community surrounded by amenities and services such as the Denver & Rio Grande railroad. Along with the thoughtful development Palmer established early on, the high altitude (over 1 mile above sea level), mild-dry climate, and breathtaking natural surroundings have continued to attract visitors and residents alike. Today, Colorado Springs is the largest city in Colorado spanning over 186 square miles and it’s the second most populated city in the State next to the Capitol City of Denver, located about 60 miles North.

TRI-LAKES

Located in the most Northern part of El Paso County, the Tri-Lakes area provides quaint, small town living with convenient access to Colorado’s two largest cities, Denver and Colorado Springs. The Tri-Lakes area gets its name from Monument, Palmer, and Woodmoor Lakes, but also includes portions of the Black Forest and Gleneagle communities. From hiking and biking trails to festive events, there are plenty of opportunities for year-round entertainment. Because of the many features of this region including Pike National Forest, magnificent rock formations, and unique shopping and dining, it’s no wonder why it is a thriving community for residents who want a true taste of Colorado living.

FALCON

Just Northeast of Colorado Springs along Highway 24, Falcon was originally a railroad crossing for the historic Denver and New Orleans Railroad in the late 1800’s. After some growth challenges, including a flood in 1935, Falcon remained a quiet home to mostly ranchers. However, it nearly doubled in population in the 1990’s as the greater Colorado Springs area expanded. Although still unincorporated today, Falcon has expanded to include a wide variety of modern conveniences such as Falcon District 49 Schools and Antler Creek Golf Course, noted as the longest course in Colorado and the second longest in the Nation.

SECURITY/WIDEFIELD

Security was originally named by developers in an effort to inspire confidence in homebuyers and Widefield was later added to express the concept of “open space.” These communities sit on the Southern edge of Colorado Springs along Highway 85 and near Powers Boulevard. Because of this, residents have easy access to Colorado Springs Airport and numerous military bases such as Fort Carson and Peterson Air Force Base, both of which contribute to the strong military economy in the area. Residents are still close enough to the Colorado Springs area to enjoy all its advantages, including a mild climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

FOUNTAIN

The City of Fountain is the oldest town in El Paso County, located in the Fountain Valley just east of Fort Carson Army Base. In the late 1880’s, Fountain was in the running for being named the Colorado State Capitol. Although it didn’t acquire this designation, it was named the Millennium City of the US by the New York Times in 1999 and later the “All American City” by the National Civic League in 2002. It continues to thrive and grow, thanks to many amenities and resources available to residents, such as the 650-acre Blue Stem Prairie Open Space and Big Johnson Reservoir.
