Colorado Springs

Nestled at the foot of historic Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer. Palmer’s vision was to create an upscale, quality resort community surrounded by amenities and services such as the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. Along with the thoughtful development Palmer established early on, the high altitude (over 1 mile above sea level), mild-dry climate, and breathtaking natural surroundings have continued to attract visitors and residents alike. Today, Colorado Springs is the largest city in Southern Colorado spanning over 186 square miles and it’s the second most populated city in the State next to the Capitol City of Denver, located about 60 miles North.  Colorado Springs has many features of a modern urban area, such as parks, bike trails, and urban open-area spaces.  The city had an estimated population of 456,568 in 2015,[6] ranking as the second most populous city in the state of Colorado, behind Denver, and the 40th most populous city in the United States.
