Security was originally named by developers in an effort to inspire confidence in homebuyers and Widefield was later added to express the concept of “open space.” These communities sit on the Southern edge of Colorado Springs along Highway 85 and near Powers Boulevard. Because of this, residents have easy access to Colorado Springs Airport and numerous military bases such as Fort Carson and Peterson Air Force Base, both of which contribute to the strong military economy in the area.
