What a curious name for a creek and park! Originally named Dirty Woman Gulch in 1861. A local homesteader who lived on the creek lived an unsanitary lifestyle and travelers who traveled back and forth though the region named her “The Dirty Woman”. The Dirty Woman Ranch was a stage coach stop between Teachout stagecoach stop located near the Woodmen trail-head and Denver’s stagecoach stop. Her ranch and house consist of chickens, goats, cats, dogs and other animals. Now Dirty Woman Creek is a park where you and your family can enjoy a baseball field, playground, picnic pavilions, basketball court and volleyball court.
