Parking off of Old Carriage Rd.
With an elevation gain of 1,950 feet the upper reservoir is highly recommend. You will pass the lower reservoir in 0.6 miles and come to the junction with Ice Cave Creek Trail or continue to the upper reservoir. Families with small children are likely to stay on the Palmer Lake Upper Trail and simply hike up the 1.4 miles to the upper reservoir. People, dogs and fishing are prohibited in the lower reservoir. The entire hike covers 3.8 miles with additional trails branching off the main trail. If you continue pass the upper reservoir you will reach Swank Trail that leads to Ice Cave Creek Trail and Cap Rock loop. Note: in winter months shoe spikes are required on trial.
